Foreign media Apple Insider reported that the leaker MauriQHD reported that Apple is studying to run Apple Silicon prototype version of macOS on the iPhone, which will allow users to plug the iPhone into a docking station or display and have a complete desktop experience.
Apple previously denied that its Catalyst project would integrate Mac and iOS. However, since macOS will run on the Apple Silicon chip, it is reported that Apple is prototyping macOS on the iPhone.
The whistleblower said that the project was “ready, and they will continue to prototype and use this time to make it better…but there are 2 options to choose from (only 1 is available in the end).”
The sources said: “They are just waiting for other projects to be in place.” “95% is sure that the goal will come, but not 100% sure. It depends on many factors.”
When asked if the plan is for dual-boot devices, such as allowing macOS Boot Camp or Windows on Intel Macs, MauriQHD said, “I want to say more about hybrid support, at least that’s the foundation of everything.”
This is somewhat like the Dex desktop mode of Samsung phones, which can become a desktop environment when the phone is connected to the display.
It was previously reported that Apple is seeking to make the iPhone an accessory for the MacBook Pro to replace its trackpad.
