At the launch last year on Android, Fortnite could not be installed from Google Play Store. The battle royale game has to be downloaded directly from Epic Games and then sideloaded.

Reasons being that the developer was not wanting to give Google its mandated 30% cut of lucrative in-app purchase revenue.

However, Fornite was recently seen on PlayStore and Android users can now install directly from there. It was released on April 20, 2020.

In the about game section, The developer announced that

“Fortnite has come to Google Play! Squad up and compete to be the last one standing in Battle Royale, or use your imagination to build your dream Fortnite in Creative.”

“On mobile, Fortnite is the same game you know from PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Mac, Switch. Same map, same gameplay, same weekly updates. Build your fort as you battle to be the last one standing. Jump in and squad up with friends around the world or in the same room!“.
