It is not really easy for Huawei at the moment, because the manufacturer is still not allowed to equip its smartphones with Google Apps. With the Huawei P Smart 2020, Huawei is therefore putting old hardware in a new design – including Google apps and services.
A new entry-level smartphone will soon be launched on the market under the name of Huawei P Smart 2020, which is again equipped with a 6.21-inch LCD panel. Among other things, the device offers 2340 x 1080 pixel resolution and is intended to build on the success of the previous P-Smart models, which Huawei was able to sell with some success in many European countries.
However, there is technology under the hood that is already well known: the Huawei Kirin 710F, which is now some years old, is used, which is an Octacore SoC with four ARM Cortex-A73 cores with speeds of up to 2.2 gigahertz and four economical ARM Cortex-A53 cores, which reach a maximum of 1.7 gigahertz.
Compared to the P Smart 2019, the new model has been upgraded especially in terms of memory: if the previous model was only equipped with three gigabytes of RAM and 64 GB of flash memory, it is now four gigabytes of RAM and at least 128 GB of memory that can be Card slot can be expanded.
The cameras remain unchanged, so that a main camera with a lean 13 megapixels and f / 2.0 aperture and a depth sensor with two megapixels are installed again. In the drop-shaped notch on the front, Huawei uses an 8-megapixel sensor, which also has an f / 2.0 aperture.
The battery is again 3400mAh, but is supposed to be able to be charged via USB Type-C connection – previously MicroUSB was still used here. Bluetooth 4.2, NFC and a headphone jack as well as ac-WLAN with dual band support complete the package. On the back of the Huawei P Smart 2020, which is expected in the colors Aurora, Green and Black, there is also a reliable fingerprint reader.
However, the operating system is still the old Android 9.0 “Pie” in conjunction with the also old EMUI 9.1, which is no longer the current edition, but at least ensures that, as mentioned, the Google apps and services are fully available To be available.
In terms of price, the Huawei P Smart 2020 will probably be in the region between just under 200 and 220 euros, which, given the competition from Motorola, Xiaomi and Samsung, could basically have some difficulties in successfully holding its own in the market.
