Information reaching us from MTN Nigeria states that charges would be made for using USSD access to banking services and it was requested by your bank.
USSD code is very easy, quick and reliable to use especially in urgent need to transfer money or buy airtime from your bank account. Now that charges would be made while using it, it is advisable to switch to mobile banking applications, Opay, Jumia one, RAGP and other third party applications that are meant for transactions.
The message received from MTN states;
“Yello, as requested by your bank, from Oct 21, we will start charging you directly for USSD access to banking services. Please contact your bank for more info.”
“Yello, Please note that from Oct 21, we will charge N4 per 20 seconds for USSD access to banking services. Thank you.”
Furthermore, whatsoever transaction you will be making on your bank account via USSD will be charged directly starting from October 21st, 2019. The exact amount charge has not been confirmed yet.
