Netflix: “application is not compatible with your device”; know what to do

It is not yet the end of the line; learn how to get around the Netflix message "this app is not supported on your device"

For those who are faithful to their gadgets and do not exchange them for anything, someday the sad Netflix message may arrive : “the application is not compatible with your device”. Know what to do before starting a revolution, and don’t lose your best company.

Netflix app is not compatible with my Android device

The latest version of the Netflix app for Android is not compatible with some devices using Android 5.0 (Lollipop). If you downloaded the Netflix app from the Play Store and saw a message asking you to install an earlier compatible version, follow these steps. Remembering that this version of the Netflix app requires an Android version between 4.4 (Kit Kat) and 7.1.2 (Nougat).

First, you need to configure your Android phone or tablet to install the app directly from Netflix:

  1. Uninstall the Netflix app
  2.  if you haven’t already done so;
  3. Then, access “ Settings”;
  4. Tap on “ Settings” ‘;
  5. Tap on “ Security”;
  6. Check the box next to Unknown sources: Allow installation of applications from sources other than the Play Store;
  7. Touch “ OK” to confirm the change.

Then, on your Android phone or tablet:

  1. Download the Netflix app ;
  2. A black screen will open and then close to indicate that the download has started;
  3. When the download is complete, slide your finger down from the top of the screen to open the Notification panel ;
  4. Tap the downloaded Netflix file and select Install;
  5. The installation is complete when the notification bar at the top of the screen displays Netflix successfully installed;
  6. Find and launch the Netflix app ;
  7. If necessary, enter your Netflix email and password using the virtual keyboard.

Netflix app is not compatible with my iPad

In my case, I got the password wrong more often than allowed on my iPad 2 and had to remake my life on it. When downloading the app from Netflix, I came across the blessed message. I thought: now, yes, he turned into a paperweight.

Tested downloading via App Store and it didn’t work? No problem. Follow these simple steps and install a compatible Netflix version:

  1. Open your iPad;
  2. Touch the Apple Store icon;
  3. Instead of searching for and downloading the Netflix app, go to “Purchased” at the bottom of the screen;
  4. Locate the Netflix app and tap it to download;
    It will display the message “Do you want to download the latest compatible version?”;
  5. Tap “Download” or the cloud icon.

See, there’s a way for everything. Prepare the popcorn and have fun!
