The code previously found in iOS 14 indicates that Apple is developing an Apple Watch that can monitor blood oxygen levels. Based on the code found, Apple Watch will notify you when the blood oxygen level drops below the health threshold. A drop in blood oxygen levels may mean severe breathing or heart problems.
It is not clear from the code whether this feature is limited to the new Apple Watch Series 6, or whether it is provided as a software update in watchOS 7, but today’s report suggests that it may be exclusive to Series 6.
When the original Apple Watch was launched in 2015, the dismantling team iFixit actually found that Apple’s sensor has the ability to monitor blood oxygen levels, but Apple has never activated this feature.
There are rumors that the upcoming Apple Watch Series 6 in the fall will have faster performance, better water resistance and improved wireless transmission.
