The Indian government announced today that it restricts the country from using some Chinese mobile applications. In response to security and privacy issues, India no longer provides 59 popular Chinese applications and services, including TikTok, WeChat and Weibo, QQ, etc. This will cause a huge blow to some of the most popular Chinese applications (such as TikTok).
Some Indian netizens posted screenshots on Twitter stating that TikTok is no longer available, and the application displays “no network connection” after opening , which means that ISP has started to prevent users from accessing TikTok.
TikTok had reached 2 billion downloads earlier this year. It is worth noting that more than a quarter of them (611 million times) came from India.
